TK2 → TK3: what changed?
Beta 1.0 · Beyond the Forge · 8 November 2026
Towns & Kingdoms 3 moves from Minecraft 1.20.1 / Forge to Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge, with Java 21. Create remains at the heart of the pack, alongside a new industrial route, character progression, more integrated adventures and a broader selection of farming and building mods.
This compares TK2 3.05 with TK3 Beta 1.0. The Beta 1.0 pack files define the complete current mod selection. Each category separates additions, removals and replacements. Mods listed as continuing were already part of TK2.

The main gameplay reworks
The mod changes support a new factory-to-adventure loop:
| Area | What changes in TK3 |
|---|---|
| Main progression | Ten chapters: Manual → Andesite → Copper → Brass → Calculation → Reinforced → Industrial → Arcane → Eclipse → Creation |
| Early factory | Manual mechanisms lead into cheaper Deployer production; Rubberworks supplies sap and rubber, including the more efficient Belt recipe |
| AE2 | Processors move from Inscribers to Create assembly, with reusable tooling; Calculation machinery leads into the ME Controller |
| Heavy industry | Create handles routine manufacturing while IE supplies heavy processing, electrical infrastructure and excavation |
| Ore processing | Supported ores progress through 1×, 2×, 4× and 5× processing |
| Renewable materials | Create stone generators, laser-grown Certus and tiered ExtendedAE Infinity Stone Cells support larger factories |
| Magic production | Ars materials, Mana, Dragon's Breath, spell-scroll production and Alchemical Lasers connect magic to manufacturing |
| Character builds | Twenty origins, activity progression, titles and a skill tree with a limited spending budget |
| Equipment rewards | Identify, compare and salvage equipment through Unidentified Loot; automate identification with Create |
| Exploration | Dimension access is independent of global factory stages, while discoveries feed useful materials back into the workshop |
| Settlements | Player-built towns, practical construction tools, quest displays and a Trading Hub connect community projects |
Detailed recipes and controls belong in the progression guide, character guide and Workshop guide.
